Signature of the Rehabilitation Contract for the Maréchal Bridge in Matadi

The Embassy hosted the signing of the Marshal Bridge rehabilitation contract in Matadi with Dai Nippon Construction, a landmark infrastructure project strengthening DRC-Japan cooperation.

The Embassy of the DRC took pride in contributing to the signing of the Marshal Bridge rehabilitation project in Matadi and its access routes, held on Friday, February 6, 2026 at the Embassy with Dai Nippon Construction (DNC).

On this occasion, His Excellency Ambassador Lukumwena Nsenda delivered remarks expressing friendship and thanking Japanese entrepreneurs for their support and commitment to this long-standing project.

The ceremony featured contract signatures between Jean-Claude Mavambu-Baka, Director General of the Organization for the Equipment of Banana-Kinshasa (OEBK), and Shigeru Kawakami, Deputy Director General of DNC, in the presence of Ambassador Lukumwena and Koichiro Oharu, Chief Consultant of Oriental Consultants Global Co.

The discussions emphasised the strategic importance of the project as a symbol of sustainable partnership between the DRC and Japan, along with mutual commitment to maintaining quality standards, safety protocols, and execution timelines.

The official ceremony continued at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo and concluded with a reception honouring the project.
