The Ambassador
H.E. Lukumwena Nsenda
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
Democratic Republic of Congo to Japan
A Message from H.E. Lukumwena Nsenda
Japan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo share a rich common history spanning 61 years, since diplomatic relations opened in 1960 upon our country's independence. That friendship has been marked by notable milestones, including historic visits by Marshal Mobutu and Crown Prince Akihito, and by landmark infrastructure projects such as the Matadi Bridge.
In August 2019, President FΓ©lix Tshisekedi attended TICAD 7 here in Tokyo, reaffirming our shared commitment to deepening cooperation. The DRC's strategic location at the heart of Africa makes it a cultural crossroads whose art is recognised the world over, and Kinshasa today is a vibrant megacity of more than 10 million residents.
My mission as Ambassador is to make the DRC's abundant natural resources and raw materials known to Japanese investors, and to clarify our country's legal and regulatory framework so that Japanese businesses can engage with confidence. I invite you to explore our services and to reach out to my team for any assistance you may need.
