The DRC Holds Its First Cultural and Scientific Festival in Tokyo

The Embassy's first cultural and scientific festival at the United Nations University in Tokyo brought together the Congolese diaspora, artists and tech innovators for a day of music, dance and exchange.

The cultural festival held at the United Nations University on 11 July 2026 was a resounding success, drawing a large and diverse audience in a spirit of discovery, exchange and conviviality.

Honouring the contribution of the Congolese diaspora in Japan, the day was rich in exchanges: inspiring presentations on new technologies, musical performances and traditional dances showcasing a rich and varied cultural heritage.

Speakers presenting their projects and technological innovations had the opportunity to engage with numerous participants and meet potential partners. Attendees also discovered the richness of Congolese culture in a warm, convivial atmosphere — enjoying artistic performances, dancing with the artists, and sampling traditional Congolese dishes.

This exceptional event helped strengthen the ties of friendship between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Japan, while showcasing the country's potential and talent.

The Embassy extends its sincere thanks to everyone who took part and to all those who contributed to the success of this unprecedented event. Speakers included: Lingoma, Namonaki Tao, Josué Kakenge (Celia App), Jean-Marc Matusisa (E-Plume), Patrick Mukadi (AI4DRC), Fiston Mendele, Koki Kawada, the Motindi restaurant, and Fuji-san Chidama Fest Wa.
